Nine months after the presidential election the supposed experts remain mystified about the results. The leftist media and Democratic associates are determined the will of the American public was subverted by the big, bad Russians. Even if those lousy Bolsheviks had nothing to do with it, they do provide a convenient scapegoat. The RINO Republicans cannot accept the repudiation they received at the voting booths but remain so angry they refuse to put any meaningful legislation on the desk of the president. Mitch McConnell continues to dance through the sagebrush of excuses with the dexterity of a Texas two-step. In spite of a rapidly growing economy, a diminishing terrorist threat, a remarkable decrease in illegal immigration and excellent new job reports, pollsters make every effort to twist approval ratings to demonstrate the “huge mistake.”
Hundreds of Bible verses illustrate God’s interest and observation of nations. At times He directly intercedes while on other occasions the Lord simply leaves them to their own devices, but no nation gains the attention of God Almighty more than the only one He made covenant promises with---Israel. These covenants are amplified through guarantees given to Moses and David, but their initiation was a real estate deal God gave to Abraham and his seed. (Genesis 15:5-7) To suggest the Lord has a short memory is ludicrous and could not be justified by even the most liberal theologian. It’s more accommodating to simply ignore it.
Israel presently occupies a tiny portion of the king’s land grant that was awarded them. It is the only nation in the UN that has no military allies and finds itself surrounded by nearly 200 million Muslims whose sole objective is the genocide of the nation. Heaven needs no help in protecting a covenant people, but God does allow other nations the opportunity to receive the blessings of their friendship (Genesis 12:3).
After eight years of unprecedented strained US-Israel relations, the direct result of Barack Obama’s closet Muslim mindset, Donald Trump trounced Hillary Clinton to become America’s 45th Chief Executive. The surprise come-from-behind victory was reminiscent of Truman’s 1948 iconic win over Dewey. By some strange coincidence Harry’s own pro-Israel stand was exonerated in that upset. Within hours of Hillary’s concession speech, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent Mr. Trump a video greeting:
“President-elect Trump, my friend, congratulations on being elected President of the United States of America. You are a great friend of Israel. Over the years you’ve expressed your support consistently, and I deeply appreciate it. I look forward to working with you to advance security, prosperity, and peace. Israel is grateful for the broad support it receives from the American people. And I am confident that the two of us, working closely together, will bring the great alliance between our two countries, to ever greater heights. May God bless America, may God bless Israel, and may God bless our enduring alliance.”
Is it possible that the 2016 election result was a bona fide divine intervention; perhaps the specific answer to millions of Christians’ prayers (Jeremiah 33:3)? Historian Bill Grady accurately noted: “Mr. Trump will not satisfy every GOP camp, especially Christians. While the Presbyterian president’s personal testimony falls short of a born-again experience, e.g. his bizarre views on forgiveness and Christ’s person, his unabashed endorsement of the LGBTQIA ad nauseum perversion, his ‘Two Corinthians’ faux pas, his praise for Ivanka’s conversion to Judaism (i.e., at the expense of Jesus Christ)—his populist anti-globalist agenda more than meets the scriptural ideal for secular rulers (Romans 13:3,4; I Timothy 2:1,2). Believers can also rejoice in the supportive role of their evangelical vice-president Mike Pence, the providential office conforming to the Bible patterns of Joseph, Daniel and Mordecai.
In addition to a strong pro-Israel stance, the Trump phenomenon points to five other occurrences: 1.) The Lord putting the focus on Himself (Isaiah 46:5)—remember, all the “infallible” pundit predictions. 2.) The open punishment of the Clintons (Proverbs 28:10) 3.) The total repudiation of Barack Obama, who subsequently accused Mr. Putin of doing exactly what he did in Israel in their 2015 election (Galatians 6:7), then brazenly betrayed Israel with an end-of-term lame duck diplomatic initiative on December 22nd, refusing to veto a UN Security Counsel resolution condemning Jewish settlement expansion on the West Bank 4.) The open mockery of the academia-media-celebrity elites (Psalm 2:4) 5.) Blocking the sure destruction of the United States that would have occurred mainly from anticipated Supreme Court picks.
To have a clear understanding of what is really going on in the world, one must have some idea of what God is up to. The prophet Hosea gives a hint: “Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the Lord their God, and David their king; and shall fear the Lord and his goodness in the latter days” (Hosea 3:5). The past one hundred years have witnessed the partial fulfillment of this prophecy with the awaited conclusion in the near future. To be on the right side of God’s program is the best possible position.
