The NFL has allowed the inmates to run the insane asylum, and as expected, things have gotten out of control.  The protests by players during the national anthem were initiated by alleged police brutality but has morphed into general disrespect for our flag and all it stands for.  Not anticipating the rising backlash, teams are now attempting to crawfish away from the moronic behavior of the overpaid prima donnas.  Statements are being released suggesting that these antics were never intended to discredit our military or the great accomplishments of America.  Some of us have more sense than to buy into the crisis management spin that is being offered up.

The Bible declares Satan to be “the god of this world,” consequently he endorses and propagates anything that fits his agenda and seeks to diminish polar opposites.  Most would deem an irreverent attitude toward our flag to also be directed at our national accomplishments and military.  But could there be something deeper and more sinister than these surface issues?  Is it possible that the evil one is at work fomenting scorn toward the work of God Almighty?

A thorough examination of our history presents an unmistakable impression that America was forged by the Sovereignty of Heaven.  This was the conviction of our forefathers.  For instance, take the so-called separation of church and state doctrine.  When the Church of the Holy Trinity in New York was accused of violating federal immigration statute for attempting to hire a clergyman from England, the United States Supreme Court ruled in 1892:  “Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of mankind.  It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian…This is a religious people.  This is historically true.  From the discovery of this continent to the present hour, there is a single voice making this affirmation…we find everywhere a clear recognition of the same truth…These, and many other matters which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation.”

Barack Obama stated that this is not a Christian nation.  Was the 1892 court incorrect?  If they were, what could the present court be wrong about?  Who would you suppose would have a greater sense of appreciation for the intentions of the founders ---the 1892 group or present company?  The court of yesteryear shared the sentiments of Thomas Jefferson, whose words are inscribed on his memorial in Washington, D.C.: ” God who gave us life gave us liberty.  And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the Gift of God?  That they are not to be violated but with His wrath?  Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever.”  When an enlightened Christian renders due allegiance to our flag, he demonstrates more than a patriotic loyalty; indeed a recognition of God, who shaped “America the Beautiful”, is rendered.

The old phrase “divide and conquer” comes to mind, which perfectly explains a strategy to depreciate a Divine design.  The full display of scorn for God’s labor is not the so called picture of unity against social injustice but rather a great divider.  If NFL players feel compelled to protest, let them address the pressing needs of the local communities in which they play.  For example:

Denver and Seattle might demonstrate against legalized weed which has led to the acceleration of crime, welfare, and general immorality.  The Rams, Raiders, Chargers and Forty-Niners should have great issue with the impossible debt of California.  The Arizona Cardinals, Cowboys, and Texans would do well to express concern for illegal immigration that steals jobs from the poor. The Bills, Browns, Steelers and Lions have plenty of rust belt problems to address…good paying jobs have been shipped out of their fan base.  The Chicago Bears need go no further than the black on black violence in their city…..over 500 murders so far this year!  The Giants and Jets represent areas of incredibly high taxes.  The Eagles and Ravens would do their cities a huge favor by bringing continual attention to their wretched schools.  Hey, Atlanta, Carolina and Tennessee Titans, the spin meisters are attempting to rewrite your history; you cannot continue to be the victims if there was never a villain.  The Saints---are you kidding me---is there no debauchery on Bourbon Street that victimizes the innocent?  The Chiefs, Vikings and Packers, this one may require a little more education, but how about drawing attention to ridiculous appropriations in farm bills that burden all taxpayers?  The Patriots, forget a protest, just change your name.  The Washington Redskins ----Holy cow, what’s not to object to in your town?  Finally, the Jaguars, Dolphins and Buccaneers, all Florida teams could organize demonstrations against the senior citizens that have moved there.  After all, they impede the 90 mph progress of the players in their Jaguars, Ferraris, and BMW’s.  In addition to their snail like movement, they are the last generation to truly venerate our national symbol and heritage.  Who needs that?
