Mother Pelosi has her hands full attempting to keep some young fillies in proper pasture. They continue to jump the fences in search of the grasses of notoriety which energizes their latent scorn for America. It’s not that Ma Pelosi disagrees with their contempt, but she is the consummate politician, knowing full well the voters will only ignore the curled lips of her stable mates for so long. Nancy would much prefer to direct all disdain toward Donald Trump and the Republicans, but her new cadre of millennials have been programmed to believe that all of the evils and problems of the world lie at the feet of the U.S.A. A continuation of this rhetoric could be a death sentence for the Dems in the next election. The difficulty is well defined in James 3:2,3: “If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.” Mother Superior has yet to discover the correct curbed bit that will put a four-wheel disc brake stop on these wannabe thoroughbreds.
The root difficulty is a proud spirit which feeds on scorn: “Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles. Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath” (Proverbs 21:23,24). But Congress does not own exclusive rights to haughty hearts. Celebrated athletes fall to a knee during the national anthem to protest America and advance an agenda that they cannot readily explain. They call it solidarity – but to what? We have yet to hear any of them give a five minute intelligent dissertation outlining a foundational belief system. Premeditated talking points are the marching orders they subscribe to. Solomon artfully put his finger on the issue: “A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth” (Proverbs 14:6). This morsel of Divine wisdom leads us to ask – what do the scorners understand about our history and Constitution? Can they tell us anything about the Mayflower Compact or the Boston Massacre? How about Lexington, Concord, Bunker Hill and Valley Forge? What was the mainspring for the Declaration of Independence, and what were the grievances listed? These programmed robots can only parrot that America is “wrong and racist”.
Is it possible that the real root of scorn transcends a flag, an anthem or even politics? In last week’s column I submitted a variety of quotes from the Founders, past Presidents and even the Supreme Court, indicating that they all firmly believed our nation was founded to be a Christian nation and should continue on a path of Biblical precedents.
The Scriptures take the position that actual invisible forces are at work to undermine any country whose creed and constitution are biblical in nature. See Daniel 10 and Ephesians 6 for details. One of the most powerful weapons in the Satanic toolbox is scorn, which is used to divide and conquer. Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, scorned the traditions of the past (II Chronicles 10) which led to a divided nation, allowing it to be diminished and eventually conquered.
Even though it is not clearly understood by many of the human adversaries, the hatred exhibited toward America is directed at what God hath wrought. If the disrespect is aimed at our clearly Christian national heritage, then who or what is the centerpiece of that heritage? Jesus Christ is once again the target of ridicule: “and they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, king of the Jews! Likewise also the chief priest mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, He saved others; himself he cannot save” (Matthew 27:28,29,41,42).
For those who would say that this conclusion is an overreach, please consider the music that the army of the enemy has been yelling in the ears of our young dissidents. Twisted Sister sings “Burn in Hell;” The Grim Reaper sings “See you in Hell;” Onslaught sings “Power from Hell;” and AC/DC sings “Highway to Hell.” Why all the fascination with hell – except the Bible clearly states Satan is the king of hell.
To help the youth reach their final destination, Motley Crue sings “Shout at the Devil;” Black Sabbath sings “We sold our soul for rock and roll;” And Morbid Angel sings “Blaspheme the Ghost.” I wonder what Ghost they had in mind. (See Matthew 12:31,32).
For inspiration, Sad Iron sings: “We all praise the devil, he’s so fine; we’ll all praise the devil til the day we die.” While Morbid Visions’ album cover shows three men on crosses with the devil trying to tear the middle victim off his cross, Coven’s cover shows a serpent around the body of Jesus, and Satan ready to stab him with a sword.
How can one be raised on that stuff and still be able to love the One Who gave us our ideals of Freedom?
